This step is part of the joint efforts to improve digital payment solutions and develop an intelligent, secure and transparent transport experience. The initiative is the first of its kind on a global scale to adopt a stablecoin fixed to the United Arab Emirates for public transport payments.
The launch event presented the first official payment using AE Coin after driving completed in one of the Tawasul taxis – a decision that strengthens Abu Dhabi’s engagement to move on to a digital and sustainable transport system.
The AEC portfolio offers a simple and secure payment experience, allowing users to complete transactions by scanning a QR code inside the vehicle. AE Coin is set at a fixed rate of 1 AED = 1 AEC, guaranteeing strong financial stability and strengthens confidence in the use of digital currency.
The AEC Wallet app is available for free on the Apple Store, Google Play and Huawei Appgallery. It offers an innovative user experience focused on rapid transactions, robust safety and reduced transfer costs.
With this initiative, taxi passengers in Abu Dhabi can now benefit from advanced digital payment experience that aligns with emirate’s ambitions for digital transformation and strengthens its position as a global hub for Finch mobility and smart mobility.
