- Android 16 QPR1 BETA introduces upgraded features for the current call chip.
- This long -awaited update facilitates interaction with calls.
- This update gives us an overview of how the live updates will work.
It has been four years since Google added the current call for the pixels in Android 12. It is the bubble of your status bar during the calls that have been how you have been on the phone for how long. All these years later, the Android 16 QPR1 Beta 2 arrived earlier this week added essential features to the current call chip.
Until now, pressing the call chip would lead you to the full call user interface, as you can see above. In Android 16 QPR1, this has changed to display the same user interface element that you would see in the notification shade, where you can hang up, switch the speaker and cut your microphone. To access the full user interface, press this pop-up.
This is a welcome change for the current call chip, and recalling what Samsung has done with timer, media commands and other articles in the bar now in a user interface 7. Interestingly made, telephone calls on a user interface 7 and the beta UI 8 always use the old behavior of the telephone call.
We could consider this as an overview of how interaction with live updates will work, a functionality that Google has implemented in a basic form in Android 16, with more toy features in future versions. Live updates work similarly to Apple live activities and live notifications from Samsung. I hope that we will see more applications to use live updates and status -bar chips soon.
