The Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 Classic (with the Galaxy Watch 8) is designed to be a complete fitness monitoring device that supports a training range and even new monitoring measures. Even the basics are improved.
The watch can monitor heart rate, blood oxygen levels, stress levels and a range of other health measures. Samsung says that the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic offers improved heart rate monitoring thanks to a new paw system that is supposed to keep the sensors closer to your skin, even if you move. The idea is that the watch maintains better contact with your wrist through different types of movements, which should lead to more precise readings. The watch also has a double frequency GPS for more precise monitoring of the location, which you run through the streets of the city or that you rand on trails.
The watch is good for automatically recovering the training sessions, which is practical when you forget to manually start a session. In my tests, the statistics were similar to what I got from the Ultra 2 Apple Watch, although this does not necessarily mean that one or the other is ultra-preccimate. You can follow a wide range of different coaches, from race and cycling to swimming and strength training. The watch also offers personalized heart rate areas to help you optimize your training intensity.
A characteristic that I particularly like is the energy score, which takes into account things such as training, the quality of sleep, the levels of stress and other factors to give you a global image of your loan for the day. It is a useful way to understand if you should push hard in a training or relax.
Sleep monitoring is complete and detailed. The watch follows sleep cycles, breathing, skin temperature and blood oxygen levels throughout the night. It can even use your phone’s microphone to monitor snoring. The watch can also detect signs of sleep apnea, but since I have no sleep apnea, it is difficult to say how precise it is. Sleep data is presented in an easy -to -understand format, with information on how to improve your rest.
The great feature for this year is the antioxidant index, which the watch can follow when you press your thumb on the optical sensor for a few seconds. You have to remove the watch to do this, which is a little annoying, but the process is fast. It measures carotenoid levels, which is only a category of antioxidants, it is therefore not necessarily of medical or complete quality. My score was “very low”, and although it is impossible to judge how precise it is, after a week or two of the best eating habits, I am not surprised that it came back. It is an interesting addition that could encourage better food choices, but you will have to remember to use it regularly.
Overall, the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic is a well -balanced health and fitness monitoring watch. It has all the bases, as well as certain features that competitors like Apple do not offer.
