Crypto merchants are invited to remain vigilant after the main exchange of Crypto Mexc Global has issued an urgent security alert to its users. In a recent tweet, Mexc warns the community of cryptography to be wary of SMS scams, which raises concerns about the attempts in progress to compromise user accounts.
Mexc Builders, an X account focused on Mexc exchange, indicated in a recent tweet that he had received suspicious SMS user reports containing phishing links. He indicates that these messages have not been sent by the Mexc exchange and may present a security risk. Thus, users are invited to never click on such links or to share personal information.
SMS phishing is a fraudulent action that uses SMS SMS with the intention of stealing sensitive customer information (such as private wallet keys and connection passwords) or encourage them to abandon cryptocurrency assets. Phishing attackers often get the identity of legitimate entities, including exchanges and portfolio service providers, to attract victims without distrust.
In light of this, Mexc reminds the cryptographic community that it never sends links via SMS, neither asks them to send either, nor ask users to click, call or respond to unknown numbers. In addition, users must always check the information via official channels.
Safety measures
The other security measures that could be taken by crypto users include protecting their private keys and passwords. They must keep in mind that legitimate service providers would never ask for private keys or passwords via SMS.
