The future of Android design is “expressive”

It has been more than 10 years since Google Material design. Can you believe this? Over the years, we have really seen him take shape in many applications and in the Android operating system in general, but the work has not stopped. Before Google E / s later this month, a detailing blog article Expressive equipment 3 was accidentally shared, giving us an overview of what Google could have in reserve for the future of Android design language.

Google says that “Material 3 expressive was born from research – not in the 41 shades of blue, which have delegated design decisions to data, but in a collaborative survey covering research, design and engineering.”

Using studies on eye monitoring (where a user concentrates their attention), surveys and discussion groups, as well as use studies, “expressive principles of equipment 3 are rooted in solid and long -standing best practices of usability.” In total, Google had 46 separate research studies with more than 18,000 participants around the world.

You will notice that in some of the models, M3 expressive is strongly built around color and shapes. Floating toolbars are also an important aspect, users have apparently assured that important features and tools are a single click via these toolbars.

We suspect that we will learn much more on expressive M3 as we get closer to Google I / S. But keep in mind that this kind of understanding of research on Google design means that we could always be far from being implemented directly in Android. As we saw with the design of the original material, it took place slowly in the applications, then finally made its way to the operating system. These things take time.

That said, it already looks great and these models have excited us for the future possible Android look.
