The Microsoft Lens application to be removed from iOS and Android

Microsoft announced that its objective application would be withdrawn from iOS and Android devices from September 15, 2025. It will then be deleted from the Apple and Google Play app for November 15, 2025.

Users will always be able to use their scan features until December 15, 2025, if the application is already on their device. Thereafter, they will not be able to scan anything again, but their existing analyzes will remain on the device, as long as they maintain the installation of the application.

How did it work

With Microsoft Lens, users can scan notes, documents, receipts or manuscript business cards, and transform them into different formats such as PDF, Word, PowerPoint, Excel or Images.

It also included filters to improve analyzes, make the text clearer or transform them into copies into black and white. Once scanned, users can save their files directly on Microsoft applications, other cloud services or just to the photo gallery on their phone.

Launched in 2015 (it was originally called the office objective), the application started as an application on Windows Phone devices. Unlike many digitization applications, it has not billed an additional cost for the functionality or pushed users in paid subscriptions.

Rescue co -pilot

The goal when leaving, Microsoft now directs its users to the Copilot ai chat Application as an alternative.

However, although Copilot offers digitization, it does not currently allow you to save analyzes directly in Word, OneNote or PowerPoint. It also does not support business card analysis in OneNote or includes accessibility tools such as the read reader aloud or immersive, which the objective has done.

How to access existing analyzes

Users can always display their old scannes in the Myscana section of Microsoft Lens applicationAs long as the application is always installed on their device.

They can also access it from Microsoft 365 COPILOT AP.

  • Local scans: Registered files only on the user device with Microsoft Lens will not appear in the COPILOT application.
