I am on the market for a new phone, and even if I told myself that I would not spend more than $ 500, I am a technological nerd and I must say that the last pixels seem very attractive. I prefer the smallest phones, and the entry -level pixel 10 has all the features I want and that I need, then some. I do not see myself spending an additional $ 200 on the pro model of similar size, because the price difference is not worth it for me.
But here is the kicker: the Pixel 10 Pro is actually cheaper for me in the long term. So, if I had to buy one of the new Google phones, the Pixel 10 Pro has the most financial sense.

Wait, what?

You probably think it doesn’t make sense, but it does for my personal situation. I subscribe to Google Ai Pro Planwhich gives me 2 TB of cloud storage, access to Gemini 2.5 and a lot of other advantages. I have been on this plan for almost a year because I need additional space in Drive and I use Gemini daily for work and personal tasks.
If I buy the Pixel 10 Pro, I get an annual subscription to this plan for free. The plan costs $ 20 per month, which means it included Perk is estimated at $ 240. This same advantage is not included with the standard Pixel 10, which only comes with a six -month subscription to the one 2 TO plan of Google, which does not provide me with the value I need.
The price difference between the two phones is $ 200 and the value of the annual plan included is $ 240 if it is paid on a monthly basis. This means that, technically, I would better buy the pro model when you take the cost of the Google AI Pro plan. Although the Pixel 10 Pro costs more, I would actually spend more the first year with the Pixel 10, because I should pay $ 240 for the subscription.
To decompose it with figures, here is a simple comparison of first -year costs:
Pixel 10 | Pixel 10 Pro | |
---|---|---|
Initial cost |
Pixel 10
$ 799 |
Pixel 10 Pro
$ 999 |
Google One Ai Pro (Annual Subscription) |
Pixel 10
+ $ 240 |
Pixel 10 Pro
+ $ 0 |
Total cost (after 1 year) |
Pixel 10
$ 1,039 |
Pixel 10 Pro
$ 999 |
This means that I save $ 40 in a year while getting a better phone at the same time. The pro comes with a brighter display, more RAM and improved cameras compared to Pixel 10, making it a more appropriate option to require users.
So, should everyone get the pro?

Well, not really. This logic only applies to people like me who are already subscribed to the Google AI Pro plan and will keep the subscription active for at least a year. If you do not have a subscription and you have not planned to get one, this calculation does not apply to you. You are better with the Pixel 10 if it is the one you really want, because there are no real savings if you buy the pro and you don’t really care about the free subscription. But if you want the pro for the additional features you get and don’t care about money, that’s another story.
But I always consider Pixel 9 or 9a.
For me, the Pixel 10 Pro is more logical to buy than the Pixel 10 from a financial point of view, although I always look at something like the Pixel 9 or even the 9a for savings. I could get the Pixel 9 for around $ 500 in my part of the world at the moment, which saves $ 260 compared to the Pixel 10 Pro during the value of the AI pro plan of Google.
Honestly, the phone has everything I need, and I’m sure I will be satisfied. Common sense tells me that it is the path to follow, but the lover of technology in me who likes to play with all the latest features, even if I cannot use some of them regularly, pushes me to the Pixel 10 Pro.
What do you think I should do? Get the last Pixel 10 PRO, opt for Pixel 9 or even the cheapest 9a for savings, or buy something else? Let me know via the survey below and explain your reasoning in the comments. I would love to hear your thoughts.
