The latest version of the Qi2 wireless standard comes to iPhones and certain Android handsets. He also received a new catchy brand from Qi2 25W, designating wireless charging speed, which is better than the previous name of Qi2.2.
The big hook here is just in the name. Qi2 25W provides up to 25 power delivery to compatible products, which represents an increase of 66% compared to the preexisting QI2 platform. Paul Struhsaker, Executive Director of the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC), said that “the remarkably rapid and efficient wireless charge of Qi2 25W will encourage increased penetration of the use of wireless load and accelerate the adoption of the new standard”.
New iPhones are already using the Qi2 standard, so the next adoption by the Qi2 25W company is not so surprised, although this is a little news. Most Android phones, however, have never been certified Qi2, so this is a potentially revolutionary event for the platform. Some Android phones could technically integrate the Qi2 load, but this generally required any dedicated magnetic case.
Smartphones are only the last category to adopt Qi2 25W. Several products, including electricity banks and chargers, were certified earlier this month. Qi2 25W, when he was called Qi2.2, was announced for the first time in April. The WPC says that there are “several hundred” devices in the queue while waiting to be tested and receive official certification. We still don’t know which Android phones are in this queue.
