Open source games may seem counter-intuitive, but their transparency and alteability are part of their appearance. They allow users to visualize their source code from top to bottom or to appreciate it as they are. Some have even generated mods, or started as remixed versions of older titles. Each of the games on this list is standing in its own right. These are all really excellent games, and I liked to spend time with each.

Without further ado, below are my favorite Android open source games that you can download now.

Alcoholic

Let’s start just at the top. Forkyz is not necessarily a game in the purest sense, but he supports one of my healthy habits: make crosswords. I’m responsible for exercising my brain a little more every day, and ending these intertwined words puzzles is the ideal way to do this exactly.

Forkyz can download puzzles from a myriad of sources, including Newsday, The Wall Street Journal, USA TODAY and The Guardian. You can select exactly the number of crosswords you want to download daily, from what source and select various settings to help you.

Andor’s Trail

It is difficult to imagine how much a game like Andor is really on a large scale, but it includes more than 600 cards and offers players more than 80 different quests. As the RPGs take place, it’s vast, even for office bones.

The game embraces typical RPG mechanisms, including turn -based battles, branching dialogue choices, skills trees, items you can equip to help you in your trip and the treasure. There is also the objective of the story of finding your brother disappeared, but … look there! A brilliant thing!

Despite its free and open source label, Andor’s Trail receives regular updates and rebalancing. The amount of love that has been presented in this title over the years is impressive. And, if you are so inclined, you can change the title yourself.

Breakout 71

When I recovered my first computer at the end of the 2000s, there was a game of ruin to which I became worried. Fortunately, it was finally overshadowed by F1 Challenge, but I finally rekindled my love on Android. Breakout 71 is not this exact game, but it is close closely.

You control a paddle that turns the balls into destructible blocks. Your goal is to destroy all blocks and take coins. Once all the blocks have left, you go to the next level.

The gameplay is simple on paper but a little more complex in practice, and higher levels require better coordination and foresight.

2048 Open fun game

If you prefer mathematics games to those who count on physics, plan to enter the fun game of 2048. The title is a bite, but it is a free and open source version of the popular puzzle game 2048.

The objective is to mix the tiles to create as many as possible. Only tiles displayed the same number can be attached in a single tile. It sounds simple, isn’t it? Well, the direction of your slide will move all the tiles, which makes it a physical puzzle game than the one based on mathematics.

It took me a long time to kiss this game, but once I understood, it is now one of my favorite games to play on short flights or queues.

Simon Tatham’s puzzles

I cheat a little here, because Simon Tatham’s puzzles are not only a game – he is 40 years old. This wide selection of puzzle games is played offline once the application is downloaded, contains no ads and is open source. It is even available on Windows if you want an appropriate mouse and keyboard configuration.

Whatever the game you select, the game game will be generated automatically, making sure that you will not meet the same game board on several occasions. Some games offered include a Dupe mines flirt, a lonely alternative, the same game and fifteen.

Xeonjia

I only recently discovered Xeonjia and the Évance every minute that I did not know that it existed. It is an adventure game that merges the RPG and the elements of puzzle that take place in an icy world. Your goal is to defeat the King of Evil without accidentally slipping into a dangerous position.

The game includes various cards, treasures, XP opportunities for improvements in skills and equipment and an adorable pixel art that will take you back immediately to the Pokémon gold era (in particular the emerald and its ice puzzle levels).

Trivia application

There was a time when Trivia applications were more popular than the Losts, and you can always find a swarm on the Play Store. However, I would suggest a Trivia application for a clean and advertising experience. This name makes it quite difficult to market anywhere beyond F-Droid, but it is an excellent game of Trivia for those who appreciate the facts on Flash.

It uses OpenStriviadb questions, offers many categories and has difficulty parameters defining the user. It’s a great way to keep your gray matter cool.

Supertoxkart

Andy Walker / Android authority

The open source Android games include more than cards and puzzles, and Supertoxkart proves it. This free arcade racing game sees colorful characters transporting karts through a myriad of cards, including those fixed in spaceships and around temples. The game reminds me of the crash team races and presents a large part of this charming with low polygon.

Once you have overcome the strange management orders of the game, you will draw hours of pleasure from this title of open source race.

Block the puzzle stone wars

Imagine Tetris, but instead of lean forms slowly putting themselves in place, you move them freely on a board yourself. It is a block puzzle. Finish a line to score points, but leave enough space for the coming articles.

The Stone Wars element is actually a separate multiplayer version of the game which includes elements of the loose history of an intergalactic team traveling in space. It is eccentric and adds another dimension to the relatively simple gameplay.

The game is surprisingly soothing and much less stressful than similar titles. This still requires a lot of foresight and planning.

Luanti

Andy Walker / Android authority

Luanti is not a single game, but a hub hosting several experiences of Voxel of sandbox. Although he invites comparisons with Minecraft that does not really make this open source Android platform.

It is more than decade, available on several operating systems and openly invites Modding. In addition, you will have to download one of the sub-games before you can play anything. MINETT – Luanti’s original experience – is the one I recommend, while Voxelibre and Mineclonia seem popular among fans of the similar but premium Microsoft title.

To this end, it is not quite a session game. Before you know, you will play this thing from breakfast to breakfast. But it probably testifies to the quality of an experience, right?

Industry

Regarding the really heavy open source Android games, you will find fewer titles more impressive than mentality. It is essentially a defense game of the tower encompassing elements of sandbox, RTS and factory management to create a complex and heavy title of strategy. You will have to solve problems in a creative manner, such as deliver supplies to your defense lines using various devices or by retaining the requirements of raw materials of the satisfied war machine.

Minddustry is a game that rewards time and patience, but there is a lot to love even for occasional players.

Zoysii

Did you think I had finished with the recommendations for the Open Source Puzzle Game? Be careful again. Zoysii is difficult to say and more difficult to master. The game consists of various numbers placed on a virtual board. As a red number tile, you aim to eliminate other tiles while accumulating points. I let you read the rules of the game on the Play Store to have a real idea of what is necessary, but it is a surprisingly excellent way to keep your brain in good shape. Fun trivia: The game was also produced by the Developer of Xeonjia.

Broken pixel dungeon

Shattered Pixel Dungeon is already known as one of the best free Android games, but did you know that it is also open source? The game began as a Pixel Dungeon fork, but it has been going on regularly since its beginnings in 2014. In particular, the game itself was forked several times itself.

Faithful to its name, the title is a dungeon robot with Roguelike and RPG elements. It includes half a dozen heroes, each with strengths, weaknesses and mechanisms to meet special challenges. The game assigns skill points to users that they can put towards various skills trees, offering additional personalization. As for the world, the game includes environments generated by the procedure, ensuring that two worlds you meet are not the same.

This is another heavy time investment game, but certainly one of the strengths of the world of open source Android game.

Print

If emerging dungeons are not your thing, this turn -based strategy game could be more your speed. Inspired by Civilization V, UNVIV allows you to supervise the rise in your own national state while crushing the challenge of others, by modifying the course of history with technology and political muscle.

An RTS title at the UNVIV scale may seem too much for the small screen, but the developer has carefully considered the user interface, which makes it very simple to display the objectives and the world in general.

Aaaaxy

Finally, let’s have an original platform more to end us, okay? Aaaxy is a 2D Roam Free-Roam platform game in which you control a character sailing in a vertical world full of dark references and hidden dangers.

The developer suggests that new players finish the game in less than six hours, while options exist to win in 15 minutes. This attracts enough for those who like speed titles.

Is there an open source Android game you want to recommend? Place a comment below. I’m always looking forward to adding new titles to my list.
