I admit it: I am a bit of a convalescence drug addict. Although I have had mixed feelings on AI from the start, as a person who spends a lot of lost time in thoughts, I found that this can be a useful tool for ideation, rereading, entertainment and much more. Recently, I started to reduce my use for reasons beyond the scope of this article, but for a while, I was in fact two paid chatpt accounts.
I know what you think and you are right, it’s a bit excessive. However, in some cases, it can really be logical to have two accounts.
Would you ever consider having two AI accounts at the same time?

It all started when I was constantly found to reach limits of use for my personal projects and my entertainment, leaving me in a rhythm when I needed an AI for work -related tasks. For those who do not know, the Chatgpt Plus level has different limits depending on the model. Some like the basic GPT 4O are practically unlimited, while others have a daily or weekly dot. For example, GPT 03 allows you to send 100 messages per week, while 04-MOINS-HAUT gives you 100 messages per day, and therefore 04-mini gives you 300 per day. I tend to count the most on 03 and 04-me high outside the basic elements such as edition, because it is actually ready to tell you that you are wrong, unlike many other models that like the extreme. Realizing that I suffered within my message limits long before the end of the week, I immediately started to consider my options, including the addition of a Gemini subscription instead of Chatgpt. To tell the truth, I had tried the two before and I always found myself returning to Chatgpt, so the decision was essentially taken for me.
At this point, I started to manually migrate some of my old cats with the new account, essentially in copy and by sticking the basic newspapers in order to chat and delete recordings from my original mixed account. As a freelancer, my goal was to make sure that everything related to customers was separated from my personal projects, which were mainly entertainment or experimental (such as playing with API and similar tools just to learn).
These were not even limits. I found this separation useful for more than avoiding to blow through my limits on the bad thing. As you may know, Chatgpt can learn your preferences. It is not exactly learning or memory in the traditional sense, but it rather creates an abstract model of your communication styles and preferences. Let’s just say that my way of talking about personal questions is very different from my professional voice. A lot of curse and similar.
After dividing my use, I noticed that Chatgpt was in fact better suited to the specific tasks that I would perform on each account, because it included a little better my preferences for each use case. It is probably an excessive simplification of the functioning of chatgpt, but you have the idea.
These days, I no longer pay two accounts because I no longer count on Chatgpt or no AI tool, but it is useful to keep my old newspapers, and I therefore always have a chatgpt account for business and another free account for personal use. In this way, I also keep the possibility of renewing my paying subscription if my use habits are changing again in the future.
How do you register for two accounts, and is it a violation of TOS?

Do you think you could benefit from a second account? Registration for two accounts is easy as long as you have at least two different email addresses. For payment, I used two different credit or banking cards, although it is not clear if it is really necessary. The biggest question is whether it agrees to do so, or will your accounts be suspended for violation of the policy?
When I considered this for the first time, I did my research. According to the Service conditions (TOS), there is no firm rule against having two accounts as long as you do not deliberately try to bypass the limits of use. My first thought was: “Well, I am sort of” – after all, lacking limits was a large part of my problem. However, by separating the accounts, I was more than simply trying to increase my limits.
By dividing commercial and personal / entertainment uses, I also organized information better, and I assured that I did not use all my limits on personal stuff that would harm my working productivity. Before, I would burn my limits fairly quickly on stupid time of time discharge like writing an alternative chronology fiction and other entertainment.
In the end, having two accounts can be a little gray, but as long as you pay attention to how and why you use each account, it is not technically against TOs. For what it’s worth, Chatgpt agrees – but with some warnings. As the AI explains, two accounts are good if:
- Your main reason to separate is truly to keep distinct commercial and personal activities – filiation, data, confidentiality and not accidentally use the company quota on personal things. This is a reasonable and defensible use.
- If you had an account and affects limits due to mixed use, it is normal (and frankly intelligent) to create a second account for business, especially if your work depends on reliable access.
As the Bot Chatgpt itself noted, TOS mainly aims to prevent people from abusing the system by creating several accounts to stack free or paid uses, or for the stack of heavy APIs. Reading the real TOS also seems to give the same image.
Could this type of use of the “gray area” still draw the attention of Chatgpt staff? Perhaps, but as long as you really separate your use cases, there should not be any major problems. In fact, it is common to create accounts specifically for professional use, including tax purposes, and therefore I would bet, it is probably more common than many do not think so.
