Google’s latest Android feature is focused on having quick access to your communication history. This is called contact history, and it is in the Android Contacts application. The last upgrade to contacts now includes a section called “recent activity” which lists the recent communication history with contact.
If you find an interaction (be it a telephone call, an SMS or another form), you can press the entry to open the associated application.

This feature can be useful if time has passed since you have communicated with contact and you want to remember the last interaction. Open the contact, scroll down until you see the entry “Recent activity”, and you will see the communications you have had. You will also see the time for the call and when the call has been made.
If you press a text message input, he will open the text message thread for this contact. If you press a telephone call, it will only open the telephone application, but it does not make a call (you must do it manually).
The functionality is already deployed and must be found in your contact application. If you do not see “recent activity” in a contact entry, you will want to make sure to upgrade the contacts from the Google Play Store application.
What I have found in the application is that it only includes telephone calls and text messages, so other communication applications (such as Whatsapp and Facebook Messenger) will not appear in this section of the application.

If your communication / interaction is limited to a small collection of contacts, this feature may not be interesting. However, if you treat a long list of people, the “recent activity” entry will be a boon to help you stay organized and up to date with your latest communications with your contacts.
