Based on a new agreement signed with the European Union, the British government has launched plans for a new collaboration on AI with Europe.
Health care treatments, clean energy technologies and advanced breakthroughs that could transform lives across the United Kingdom are at hand, the Department of Sciences, Innovation and Technology said in a press release.
From Tuesday, public research organizations can apply to accommodate the IA factory antenna in the United Kingdom – an installation which, if approved, connects the British research expertise to its advanced supervisors across Europe.
This expression of interest, open to individual public research organizations or consortiums, will identify the offer supported by the United Kingdom government to apply to Eurohpc – with up to 5 million euros available.
In the event of success, the organization chosen will become the IA factory antenna in the United Kingdom, acting as the gateway to the best European supervisors thanks to a partnership with an AI factory on the continent – a site combining EuroHPC calculation with access to data, training and management of software.
This will allow British scientists, startups and public institutions to build larger and more complex AI models – shortening development cycles, accelerating innovation and creating highly qualified jobs across the country.
The program is based on the growing impulse of the United Kingdom in calculation infrastructure, with 44 billion books invested in data centers since July of last year, and is part of wider efforts to guarantee that the United Kingdom has the necessary calculation to prosper at the EIA.
Access to cutting -edge calculation power – The high performance treatment capacity necessary to manage large data and complex models – is the engine of progress in AI. Bigger collaboration will help meet global challenges such as climate change and disease, will support the development of advanced AI systems used in health care and energy and stimulates economic growth.
The expansion of the international collaboration on Compute is a key recommendation of the Action of IA opportunities of the British government – a plan to accelerate the use of AI through the economy.
“With access to some of the most advanced systems in Europe, our researchers and startups will be equipped to conduct advanced breakthroughs and strengthen the role of Great Britain as a trusted partner in international AI development,” said British AI Minister Feryal Clark.
Tuesday’s announcement follows a new UK’s new agreement in the United Kingdom signed earlier this month, which underlines the renewed partnership of the United Kingdom with Europe.
