Whatsapp has announcement The deployment of its new translation feature, allowing users to translate messages in their favorite language directly into the application. The functionality is gradually launched on the iPhone and Android devices for individual cats, group conversations and channel updates.
To translate a message, just press the text and press the “Translate” option. Users can then select source and target languages, with the possibility of downloading language packs for future use. WhatsApp says that all translations occur locally on the user’s device, in accordance with end -to -end encryption of the application which guarantees that the mother company META cannot see the content of the message.
Whatsapp users on iPhone obtain a translation support for more than 19 languages, notably Dutch, French, German, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Chinese Mandarin, Polish, Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian and Vietnamese.
Android users can access six -languages translation, but they obtain an additional convenience feature: automatic translation for whole cat threads. Once activated, all incoming messages of a conversation are automatically translated without requiring manual activation for each message.
The deployment follows the introduction by Apple of the live translation for messages as part of its iOS 26 launch and MacOS Tahoe earlier this month. WhatsApp plans to extend the linguistic support in future updates, but it has not said when the functionality will arrive on WhatsApp for the web or the office.
