Meta shared a new update on the iOS version of WhatsApp which brings translations of messages to conversations. This adds a way to translate discussions into one of the 21 languages that the user can understand or read natively.
The functionality was initially published on Android several weeks ago, and it is now available on iPhones to help improve the communication experience by better connecting different nationalities. This integrated message translation feature would help users to better communicate with their friends or colleagues without the need to use other services and manually transfer conversations from one application to another.
WhatsApp on iOS adds messages to translation messages
THE Message translation functionality That WhatsApp launched a few weeks ago on Android now arrives on iPhone and iOS, according to the last report and discovered by Wabetainfo. Users can now download the application or update their existing WhatsApp applications on the App Store to prepare them to receive the last feature of the company.
However, it is important to note that the functionality is being deployed in updated applications, which means that users will have to wait for it to appear on the platform before they can use it. Users can check if it is already available by maintaining a specific message, by pressing “Plus” and seeking the “Translate” option.
21 tongues supported, but delivered with catches
Whatsapp’s latest update supports 21 languages, but Wabetainfo noted that the availability of languages depends on the region. Although the message translation functionality is integrated, the problem is that users should manually translate the cat they want to read in a different language.
Another problem is that users should download language packs to translate discussions. This also guarantees that they can use the functionality when the device is offline, but only for messages received when connected to mobile data or Wi-Fi.
The 21 available languages include:
- Arab
- Chinese (Mandarin, simplified)
- Chinese (Mandarin, Traditional)
- Dutch
- English (United Kingdom)
- English (United States)
- French
- German
- Hindi
- Indonesian
- Italian
- Japanese
- Korean
- Polish
- Portuguese (Brazil)
- Russian
- Spanish
- Thai
- Turkish
- Ukrainian
- Vietnamese.
Meta upgrades for Whatsapp
The Meta and WhatsApp team has added important features to the application that has transformed it over the years. Earlier this year, WhatsApp added a way to share status updates that would only appear for the list of close friends, separating those who can see the publications.
The instant messaging platform has also received a massive upgrade with the integration of writing tools powered by Meta AI. Instead of having to write messages manually, users can now ask for help from generative AI by giving it prompts or by making it learn the context of the conversation to create a response or start a new conversation.
Whatsapp’s previous upgrades include other generative AI features, such as AI messages, Meta AI Studio to create chatbots within the platform and stickers generated by AI similar to Instagram.
