Android is on a lot From different things, but even after a decade of covering the platform, I am always surprised by some of the things that roll on my desk. Or, I suppose that in this case, in my house, because I recently tried which is essentially a 32 -inch Android tablet on wheels. My question for you – What are you using it?
KTC’s “Megpad” is, as described, essentially a 32 -inch Android tablet on a pedestal and wheels. The 4K screen has a touch screen and integrated speakers and can turn between horizontal and vertical orientations. The display itself has an anti-reflective matt coating and is very clear given its resolution and size. Even closely, it looks really clear.
But what makes this display different is that when you turn it on is just an Android tablet. You will be unlocked to a traditional launcher and can install any application you want. He has the Play Store and executes Android 13 with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. The chipset is nothing impressive with a Rockchip RK3588, but I was quite surprised by the way all the experience feels. It is probably thanks in part to the very clean “in stock” construction of Android. It’s like using a bare pixel. However, I want it to be on a more up -to -date version. Android 13 is very obsolete at this stage, and the security patch of December 2024 is not particularly comforting from the point of view of security.
In addition to installing applications and using this screen as a giant tablet, you can also connect any HDMI device or use a wireless mouse to control the experience instead of the touch screen. You can also reflect your screen from another device.
As mentioned, everything is on wheels. The base is heavy and contains, among other things, the battery of 9,500 mAh which can execute the display for a few hours. The construction is also robust. The assembly lasted only 10 minutes (all the tools included) and all of this seems solid. The wheels are not very large, so the thresholds or carpets along the ground can force you to pick up everything.
My question continues when using this machine, however, is what you need to use.
In recent weeks, to have it in my office, my main use case was to use it as a more flexible TV. The installation of the Disney + application meant that I could broadcast Bob’s Burgers while cleaning my office or by performing other tasks, or I could simply install YouTube and bring it everywhere I wanted this entertainment. It is also a kind of ideal way to use the new desktop mode of Android 16, because you just need an HDMI cable and a USB-C adapter to get things done. It is faster than many other devices, such as a Nintendo switch or a Google TV Dongle for example, which requires much more power than the integrated USB port.
However, I can imagine many other uses. The battery and mobility would make it at hand for small businesses during events. It could also be useful for children at home to play certain types of games together. The obvious place to use it, however, is in education or home education. User cases seem endless, as it could be used for presentations and drawing or a million other things.
With good performance, a net display and a versatile equipment, I think there are many ways to use the “megpad” that I never think of. That’s why I want to open your door to you. Let’s be discussed in the comments below. How You Use a product like this?
The KTC “Megpad” is available For $ 799 (give or take) on Amazon. It is certainly expensive, but a comparable 27 -inch option, 1080p of LG (which is literally just a touch screen monitor, no Android edge) costs a little less than $ 1,000. So, if it is a product you are looking for, it is a good value. KTC also has a smaller 27 -inch model (which performs Android 14!) It is often available at a lower price.
