Kevin Surace is a graduate of the RIT who has spent decades to accumulate patents and to direct the field of technological innovation. It is much more optimistic about artificial intelligence than convictions. Surace believes that AI will not devastate the labor market, but he says that he can certainly transform the nature of the work in several ways. He says it can be a good thing if we know how to use AI. We sit down to discuss the future of work and why he wants us to see the sunny side of technology.

Then, at our second hour, six months ago, Senator Chuck Schumer persuaded his colleagues Democrats to vote for a financing bill that President Trump and Elon Musk wanted. He avoided a closure of the government. Some Democrats have argued against the financing of a government acting in a manner that has betrayed their values. Schumer said he had realized that many colleagues would disagree with him, but he had acted in courage and conviction. He does not think that the government can be authorized to close, even if the ruling party acts in a repugnant way. Close the government and you could close the courts, said Schumer. And then what? Our guest leads the local Democratic Party and will discuss the upcoming choices.

In the studio:

  • Avi Presberg, Executive Director of the MONROE County Democratic Committee
