- A large visual overhaul for Android has been spotted
- The update is hidden in the last Android 16 Beta
- It could be announced by Google later this month
Android 16 should be pushed into the world in the coming months, and we now have solid evidence of a major design overhaul for the Google mobile operating system, updating many different areas of the user interface.
This new look has been spotted and activated by Android authorityHidden in the code of the last Android 16 Beta. At this stage, it is not clear if the refreshment of the user interface will be launched at the same time as Android 16, but it seems almost ready to leave.
First of all, we have a look updated for the status bar at the top of the screen: there are new status bar icons here (for Wi-Fi, battery level and plane mode, for example), as well as a modified look for the font used for the status bar clock.
The second notable change that is on the way to the notifications and fast parameters panel. It seems that there are various adjustments to this panel, including a fuzzy background, a redesigned brightness cursor and segmented icons.
Lock screen and volume sliders

Third, there are also visual modifications for the lock screen, with a more compact notification shelf, the introduction of dynamic colors and a rearrangement of the widget on which we have already written.
A fourth change arrives at the user interface used for volume sliders. The cursor bars will be thinner, with distinct handles at the end, and various other adjustments – no huge differences, but they constitute a cleaner and more modern look overall.
Fifthly, the parameter application becomes more and more “expressive”, with colorful icons, smaller titles for menus and arrows to indicate sub-pages. The idea is that the settings are easier to find and handle on your Android phone.
There are also more minor changes, including changes in icon form and more blur in the interface. Google has not yet said anything official about the update, but could well do during the Google I / O 2025 event which begins on May 20.
