Calzona reveals Di Lorenzo’s absence for Napoli 11

Napoli coach Francesco Calzona explains why captain Giovanni Di Lorenzo is missing tonight’s match against Fiorentina and has been booked.

Kick-off will be at the Stadio Franchi at 7:45 p.m. UK time (6:45 p.m. GMT).

You can follow all the preparation and action as it unfolds on the LIVEBLOG.

“We need to be more focused from the start because we get these concentration drops and make it too easy for our opponents. We have two matches and need to get maximum results with good performances,” Calzona told DAZN.

Victor Osimhen, Piotr Zielinski and Mario Rui did not make the trip, but Di Lorenzo also withdrew at the last minute and is not even on the bench.

“Di Lorenzo had gastroenteritis, it’s very sad, because I would always love him in my team. We are missing quite a few players, but we also have a lot ready to step up, so we continue.

Calzona ignores De Laurentiis comments

President Aurelio De Laurentiis said it would not be a tragedy if Napoli failed to qualify for Europe.

“If the president says so. I can’t be here to discuss this, I have other issues to attend to,” the coach shrugged.

This match is a head-to-head for eighth place, as Fiorentina are two points ahead and have a game in hand against Atalanta which will be played on June 2.

A win tonight would at least guarantee Conference League football for the Viola.

However, if they beat Olympiacos in the Conference League final on May 29, they will then qualify for the Europa League.
