According to Bloomberg Mark GurmanApple will launch a new event and invite the service as part of iCloud. This new service differs from the calendar and will launch “this week to come”.
The report describes “confetti” as a “new way of inviting people to parties, functions and meetings”. According to Bloomberg, Apple aims to reorganize the application of the calendar for years, and this is only the start of these efforts.
Gurman also adds that this new launch of “Confetti” is linked to iOS 18.3, which began to move to iPhone and iPad users at the end of last month. This means that the service could be activated at any time. Apart from that, the report is light on the details.
Last month, we exclusively pointed out this new service invited to 9TO5MAC After discovering it in the Beta iOS 18.3 code. Here’s how my colleague Filipe describes the effort:
After analyzing the code, we believe that the application is designed to help users organize meetings and events in person. Although Apple’s calendar application can already be used for this purpose, the new application invites will probably have additional features.
The code suggests that the invitation application fits into iCloud and will even have a web version on iCloud.com. The new application also fits into a new iOS 18 demon called Groupkit, which manages database models for groups of people. This demon is present since the first version of iOS 18.0 and has not been used so far by any Apple application.
Essentially, the application will show you a list of people invited to this event and who have already confirmed their presence. It is not clear if invitations will actually be an autonomous application or if Apple plans to integrate it into other parts of the system (such as a mini-miling application). Presumably, the application will have a more fun interface than what the Calendar application currently provides to invite someone to an event.
Personally, I am very excited for this upcoming service. I had felt for a long time that there could easily be a way to simplify the calendars, and I am happy that Apple takes a step in this direction.
What do you think of the next Apple invitation / events service in iOS 18.3? Let us know in the comments.
