Localized flooding this evening. End of showers/storms. More storms coming this week


CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – Localized flooding continues this evening due to showers and storms that developed during the afternoon. Avoid flooded areas and never attempt to cross flooded roads! Showers and thunderstorms diminish this evening. The next few days will be hot and humid, until mid-week, with a few more showers and thunderstorms ahead.

More isolated storm coverage is expected Tuesday and Wednesday. Although weak, an isolated severe storm is also possible. Wednesday is the warmest day of the week, with highs around 90. A strong cold front arrives Thursday to bring more widespread showers and thunderstorms. We will continue to monitor the situation as the severe threat level from storms may increase. Destructive winds and hail are the main threats, along with locally heavy rain.

Tuesday: Morning fog. Sun and clouds, hot and humid. Isolated showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening. Highs in the upper 70s to lower 80s. Lows in the lower 60s. Scattered fog.

Wednesday: Partly sunny, warm and humid. Highs in the upper 80s to lower 90s. Risk of isolated thunderstorm. Lows in the mid 60s.

Thursday: Partly sunny, warm and humid. Showers and thunderstorms, some violent. Highs in the upper 70s to lower 80s. Minimums 55-60. Scattered fog.

Friday: Partly sunny. Drier trend by PM. Highs in the lower 70s. Low near 50.

Saturday: Partly sunny. Highs near 70. Lows above 40 to near 50.

Mother’s Day, Sunday: Partly sunny. Highs in the upper 60s to lower 70s. Lows in the 40s.
