Good times have never been so good! Nick Fradiani, who currently plays the role of Neil Diamond in A beautiful sound on Broadway, will lead the North American tour of the musical after the production closes on Broadway on June 30. The multi-year tour will kick off at the Providence Performing Arts Center in Providence, Rhode Island in fall 2024.
Fradiani, winner American idol in 2015, reprized the role of Diamond in 2023, marking her Broadway debut. The announcement that he will lead the tour was made during the 2024 season finale of American idolafter Fradiani sang a medley of Diamond’s “America” and “Sweet Caroline” with some of the show’s finalists.
The first year of the tour will see stops in more than 25 cities, including Blumenthal Performing Arts in Charlotte, North Carolina. Click here for a tour itinerary. Additional casting will be announced at a later date.
“Some of my most exciting nights have been when I have been on tour, bringing my music to audiences around the world,” Diamond said in a previous statement. “Having A beautiful sound Going on tour is an honor and I can’t wait for audiences across North America to experience this show. I hope they enjoy it as much as I do.
The tour will be produced by Ken Davenport, Bob Gaudio and NETworks Presentations.
“Neil is one of the best live performers the world has ever seen,” Davenport said in a previous statement. “Over his 50-year career, he performed in front of millions of fans around the world. I couldn’t imagine a more perfect way to honor his legacy than to have A beautiful sound touring North America, visiting the same cities where he gave so much joy to so many people. I look forward to kicking off the tour in Providence, Rhode Island, a city that has been in love with Neil’s music for decades and where Neil himself has performed nearly a dozen times.
“When Neil and I started talking about doing a musical using his music, I knew how intimidating it would be,” Gaudio added. “With Boys Jersey, I learned how vital it is to have a top-notch creative team making sure everything comes together. We have this on A beautiful sound– an incisive book that honestly tells Neil’s story, fantastic choreography, one of Broadway’s best directors guiding the entire production and of course, Neil’s iconic songs. Taking the show on tour is an exciting next step and I can’t wait to be there on opening night in Providence.
